Press Release 5/2004 Strasbourg, 31st of March 2004 EUMC report on anti-Semitism Proud to Be Ignoranton the presentation of the completely changed report of the European Monitoring Center on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), Ilka Schröder, independent member of the European Parliament, declares: The 345-pages brick which is intended to replace the respectable study of the Center for Research on Anti-Semitism has one main error, in spite of all lengthy and clear definitions: It wants and is intended to be blind to a political scandal. The evident relationsship between a new wave of anti-Semitism on the one hand and September 11th and the so-called "Al-Aqsa-intifada" on the other hand is cast aside intentionally. An Austrian linguist and a doctoral student of Judaism have been charged to ignore what every smart reader of newspapers will know: that the massive rise of anti-Semitism and the related danger for European Jews are the not anticipated result of EU policy against Israel and the related anti-Zionist propaganda in the European public. |
